Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen is said to be looking forward to contract talks
according to reports from England. The Belgium international has been embroiled in a
contract dispute with the English giants this season.

However Sky Sports reveals that the defender is ready to resume talks following the
arrival of Jose Mourinho to the club. It is understood that Vertonghen believes that he
can elongate his career with the Portuguese tactician in charge.
Vertonghen is regarded as one of the top defenders in English football having arrived at
the club in 2012. He is one of the longest serving members at Tottenham and has made
over 300 appearances for the club.

It is understood that the Tottenham would be looking to keep Vertonghen and his
compatriot Alderweireld as they look to win trophies under Mourinho.
This news will come as good news to fans who have enjoyed the brilliance of the Belgium
international over the years.

Mourinho is one that favours experience at the back and Vertonghen is more than
capable of playing a few seasons with the club. The 32 year-old has shown no signs of
slowing down and would be pivotal to the club having success this season.
